My Harley Davidson
| As I have said elsewhere, I love motorbikes although when I was a lot younger and still lived at home I was disuaded from having one. I met Chris (now my husband) when I was 24; he had ridden bikes since he was old enough to. He had a beautiful custom Harley that I fell in love with, in fact, biking was part of the deal when we got together, which suited both of us. I spent half a season riding pillion and decided that I wanted to ride my own bike.
The first bike I rode was Chris's Harley at an airfield nearby - very handy these airfields! I was terrified of dropping it (they weigh nearly a 1/4 of a ton!) and unlike most Harleys it made 90bhp and 90 ftlbs of torque; so it was no slouch. |

I loved riding so borrowed a 125 and passed my test whilst looking for a suitable Harley of my own. Chris built custom Harleys as a hobby, mostly for friends, so he could hardly decline my request to build one for me. I found a 1982 FXR with a Shovelhead engine - quite a rare model which became even rarer once it got the chop! I had the frame remodelled to look like an old 4-speed but still with the benefit of the rubber mounted engine. |

The frame and the engine cases were powder coated in ivory with the outer covers in chrome. The tank and mudguards were finished in pearlesecent white and pink - she looked stunning! Starting to look like a bike - the multi-coloured spaghetti is the wiring harness being made up on the bike. |
